After a long gap of 9 months, since the outbreak of Covid Pandemic, Lord Jagannath’s Temple reopens today. The temple was closed since March 20th because of pandemic. A great news for all the devotees of Lord Jagannath, who have been eagerly waiting for this moment, so that they can have the Darshan of their beloved Lord.

The Servitors of the Lord, will be the first to have the Darshan of Lord Jagannath along with their family. For a period of three days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, no one else will be permitted for Darshan. A two layered checking system has been created for these three days to make sure that only servitors and their family members are only entering the temple.

“We will engage volunteers of a Servitors association, apart from this, personnel of Jagannath Temple Puri(JTP) will also be present, so that fake persons can be identified, (people who pretend that they are servitors or their family members)  if any such persons are caught an FIR will be lodged against them” Shri. Balwant Singh Collector of Puri District said.

From December 26th onwards till 31st December, the residents of the Puri municipality will be permitted to have Darshan of the Lord. From January 3rd onwards all devotees irrespective of the place they stay, can come to Puri and have the Darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Yesterday Puri district administration released a schedule for the Darshan of Lord Jagannath, for Puri residents. Every day the Darshan will start at 7:30 A.M and will last till night, when all the rituals of the Lord will be completed. 9 lanes have been formed outside temple and people will go in a queue, there will also be various checking counters where the Locals will be asked to show their Identity proof (people from Puri Municipality).

Collector of Puri District Shri.  Balwant Singh, revealed that “We have identified certain wards, whose inhabitants will be allowed to enter the temple on specific dates. People of the concerned wards have been allotted specific time schedules as well, to visit the shrine. We will avoid gathering of people of different wards at one particular time.” Shri. Balwant Singh said.

The moment that many devotees have been eagerly waiting for has come at last. Go ahead, make your plan and have Darshan of the Lord. Jai Jagannath.
